David Bowie

Last night, the news rolled in. David Bowie had died.

I'd spent the weekend home sick with the flu, digging deep into my copy of Blackstar. It's a brilliant record full of the mystery, grandeur, grace and intimacy that inevitably set Bowie so high in the pantheon of truly singular, world-class artists. If you haven't heard it, go and put it on right now.

Bowie and his music have been a massive influence on my own work since I was a kid. His final artistic statements, Blackstar and its two accompanying videos, are incredible parting gifts from a true genius.

It's difficult to put words together right now, so I'll just say, "Thank you, David."
